Posted Aug 30th, 2012

The Big Feastival site opens tomorrow with campers arriving early to pitch their tents ahead of Saturday and Sunday’s festival fun filled days of the very best in food, music and family entertainment. The Big Feastival, in its first year at Alex James Farm has sold out of all camping tickets just days before the big event. With all camping tickets now sold out and day tickets going fast, the final additions to the weekend line-up have now been announced.

Jamie Oliver’s Kitchen Garden Project offers fresh workshops for all the family to get their hands dirty.

The Kitchen Garden in association with Daylesford Organic Farm is the place to come for a taste of the good life, with contribution from Jamie Oliver Kitchen Garden Project, Garden Organic and The Oxfordshire Gardener. Jamie Oliver will be presenting his Make n Shake Salad session and Garden Organic will be on hand to show guests everything they need to know about composting, whilst RHS qualified Oxfordshire Gardener will give demonstrations on how to grow their own kitchen garden – no matter how much (or little) space they have. There’ll also be the opportunity to discover the world of hen-keeping, along with fresh apple juice pressing and cider making. Jamie Oliver’s Kitchen Garden project aims to arm children with the skills they need to prepare meals from scratch and the knowledge to make better food choices for themselves and their future families.

MUNE Healthy Drinks and Snacks team up with Adam Garcia for fun for all the family

MUNE is delighted to be launching their range of healthy drinks and snacks to the thousands of health conscious foodie families attending The Big Feastival. They will be introducing their Healthy Water to encourage healthy hydration, Healthy Boost for concentrated daily immune support, their Healthy Ice Cream with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners and their sophisticated and delicious Healthy Sorbet. To celebrate the launch, guests of The Big Feastival, children and adults alike, can have some fun learning a dance from star of the stage and screen Adam Garcia, and meet him afterwards on Sunday afternoon for photos and autographs in the Little Dude’s Den. Adam will be teaching the MUNE dance to demonstrate the health benefits of dance, healthy hydration, and strong immunity.

Singer and songwriter Sahand joins the line up as the winner of The Big Feastival’s Live & Unsigned competition

The search is now over for an unsigned act to win the chance to showcase material by opening The Big Feastival Main Stage on Saturday. As the winner of The Big Feastival’s Live & Unsigned competition, singer songwriter Sahand will join the likes of The Cuban Brothers, Gaz Coombes, Noisettes and Paloma Faith to introduce his chilled dance melodies, perfect for a summer’s day. After submitting his track for the competition, Sahand worked tirelessly promoting his material and made the shortlist which was then presented to the Live & Unsigned judging panel which included Alex James, Mercury UK President of Music Mike Smith (who signed Blur to MCA Publishing), JACKfm presenters Caroline Verdon and Trevor Marshall from The Morning Glory and BBC Oxford’s David Gilyeat.

Celebrating three of the things closest to both Jamie and Alex’s hearts – food, music and family – in order to raise funds and awareness for Jamie Oliver’s Better Food Foundation, The Big Feastival takes place on Alex’s farm on September 1st and 2nd and is two days of tasty grub, awesome music performances, a chilled out vibe and general all-round, family-friendly, fantastic entertainment.

As Jamie says: “When you get great food, great music and the kids are kept busy, beautiful things definitely happen”.
Good food, good music and good times for the whole family
