The Idler magazine and Academy want to help you slow down, have fun and live well.
Come and learn the ukulele, join an idling workshop or just lie on the grass and enjoy a guilt-free nap to our soundtrack of music for loafers.
Idling Workshops with Tom Hodgkinson
Idler magazine editor Tom Hodgkinson will be your on-site philosopher for the weekend. He’ll be running workshops for people who’d like to learn the arts of doing much less and getting some control back in their lives, as well as learning a bit about great idlers like Socrates, and the Stoics and the Epicureans.
Tom Hodgkinson is editor of the Idler magazine. He started it in 1993 after being sacked from a job he hated, and has been happily free of conventional work ever since. He is the author of How to be Idle, How to be Free, The Idle Parent, Brave Old World and Business for Bohemians, a manual for creative entrepreneurs.
Ukulele Workshops with Danny Wootton
The ukulele brings freedom and joy and is very easy to learn. Come and join our classes - you’ll be amazed at what you can do.
The workshops are suitable for people with no musical experience whatsoever. Your teacher Danny says: “We are all musical.” Let him show you how to release your inner musician.
Danny Wootton is a musician and artist who lives on a canal boat in London.
About the Idler
We’re a magazine and Academy. We produce online courses, run live events and can be seen wearing togas at festivals.
Please note that our maximum workshop size is ten people. Please come and sign up as early as you can. We’re open from noon to five, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park team are setting up camp at this year’s Big Feastival, giving festival-goers the chance to meet some of their favourite furry and feathered friends.
It wouldn’t be The Big Feastival without our signature Vintage Funfair.
We are delighted to have the Jitterbug Circus joining The Big Feastival for more festival shenanigans who will be performing and running workshops all day.
