In 2015, Josh Katz, along with his brother Paul, and Mattia Bianchi, opened their first restaurant, Berber & Q Grill House. Its success led them to launch Berber & Q Shawarma Bar on Exmouth Market in October 2016, focusing on the art of shawarma cooking. In 2021, they expanded further with the opening of Carmel in Queen's Park. Carmel offers a refined all-day menu influenced by the Mediterranean and the Levant, showcasing Josh's affinity for cooking with fire using a clay oven.
Josh's first book, "Berber & Q; The Cookbook," was published in May 2018, featuring 120 recipes from the restaurants and beyond. It includes popular dishes like cauliflower shawarma and the famous Berber & Q hummus. The sequel, "Berber & Q; On Vegetables," released in May 2022, provides numerous cooking options for all types of vegetables. From quick pan searing and grilling to slow roasting, it also shares techniques for seasoning and flavouring through marinades, spice coatings, and delightful sweet and sour dressings.
